And he was amazed because of their unbelief. Then ¹  he went around among the villages and taught.

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

Another ¹  said, ‘I just got married, and I cannot come.’ ² 

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

but ¹  they could not find a way to do it, ²  for all the people hung on his words. ³ 

When it was already very early morning, Jesus stood on the beach, but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

Completely baffled, they said, ¹  “Aren’t ²  all these who are speaking Galileans?

All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

All ¹  who were sitting in the council ²  looked intently at Stephen ³  and saw his face was like the face of an angel. ⁴ 

(Now the men ¹  who were traveling with him stood there speechless, ²  because they heard the voice but saw no one.) ³ 

Though ¹  they found ²  no basis ³  for a death sentence, ⁴  they asked Pilate to have him executed.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying ¹  and singing hymns to God, ²  and the rest of ³  the prisoners were listening to them.

Because he could not be persuaded, ¹  we said no more except, ²  “The Lord’s will be done.” ³ 

When the ship was caught in it ¹  and could not head into ²  the wind, we gave way to it and were driven ³  along.

I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember you ¹  in my prayers.

So when we could bear it no longer, we decided to stay on in Athens ¹  alone.

Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?” His brothers could not answer him because they were dumbfounded before him.

Saul’s uncle asked him and his servant, “Where did you go?” Saul ¹  replied, “To look for the donkeys. But when we realized they were lost, ²  we went to Samuel.”
