Predict how future events will turn out, ¹  so we might know you are gods. Yes, do something good or bad, so we might be frightened and in awe. ² 

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, ¹  your whole body is full of light, but when it is diseased, ²  your body is full of darkness.

that I must go down ¹  and see if they are as wicked as the outcry suggests. ²  If not, ³  I want to know.”

Then ¹  seven other cows came up after them; they were scrawny, very bad-looking, and lean. I had never seen such bad-looking cows ²  as these in all the land of Egypt!

Israel said, “Why did you bring this trouble ¹  on me by telling ²  the man you had one more brother?”

He had been hired to scare me so that I would do this and thereby sin. They would thus bring reproach on me and I ¹  would be discredited. ² 

But now, put off all such things ¹  as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.

and a sound message that cannot be criticized, so that any opponent will be at a loss, ¹  because he has nothing evil to say about us.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is bad but what is good. ¹  The one who does good is of God; the one who does what is bad has not seen God. ²

The Edomites had again invaded and defeated Judah and carried off captives.

How often ¹  are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff swept away ²  by a whirlwind?

The righteous see their destruction ¹  and rejoice; the innocent mock them scornfully, ²  saying,

He goes about ¹  in company ²  with evildoers, he goes along ³  with wicked men. ⁴
