Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. ¹ 

But they do not realize ¹  that the dead ²  are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave. ³ 

Death and Destruction ¹  are before the Lord – how much more ²  the hearts of humans! ³ 

The path of life is upward ¹  for the wise person, ²  to ³  keep him from going downward to Sheol. ⁴ 

As ¹  Death and Destruction are never satisfied, ²  so the eyes of a person ³  are never satisfied. ⁴ 

The one who is tormented ¹  by the murder ²  of another will flee to the pit; ³  let no one support him.

the grave, ¹  the barren womb, ²  land that is not satisfied with water, and fire that never says, “Enough!” ³ 

They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die violently ¹  in the heart of the seas.

I will remove the sorcery ¹  that you practice, ²  and you will no longer have omen readers living among you. ³ 

so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – in heaven and on earth and under the earth –

He passed his son ¹  through the fire ²  and practiced divination and omen reading. He set up a ritual pit to conjure up underworld spirits, and appointed magicians to supervise it. ³  He did a great amount of evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. ⁴ 

Sheol ¹  below is stirred up about you, ready to meet you when you arrive. It rouses ²  the spirits of the dead for you, all the former leaders of the earth; ³  it makes all the former kings of the nations rise from their thrones. ⁴ 

I made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I threw it down to Sheol, along with those who descend to the pit. ¹  Then all the trees of Eden, the choicest and the best of Lebanon, all that were well-watered, were comforted in the earth below.

Will I deliver them from the power of Sheol? No, I will not! ¹  Will I redeem them from death? No, I will not! O Death, bring on your plagues! ²  O Sheol, bring on your destruction! ³  My eyes will not show any compassion! ⁴

If you take ¹  this one from me too and an accident happens to him, then you will bring down my gray hair ²  in tragedy ³  to the grave.’ ⁴ 

When he sees the boy is not with us, ¹  he will die, and your servants will bring down the gray hair of your servant our father in sorrow to the grave.

They and all that they had went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed over them. So they perished from among the community.

For a fire has been kindled by my anger, and it burns to lowest Sheol; ¹  it consumes the earth and its produce, and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

and if ¹  God ²  is gracious to him and says, ‘Spare ³  him from going down to the place of corruption, I have found a ransom for him,’ ⁴
