They stalk ¹  and lurk; ²  they watch my every step, ³  as ⁴  they prepare to take my life. ⁵ 

the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. ¹ 

Fearing the Lord ¹  leads ²  to life, ³  and one who does so will live ⁴  satisfied; he will not be afflicted ⁵  by calamity.

for you will heap coals of fire on his head, ¹  and the Lord will reward you. ² 

She is like ¹  the merchant ships; ²  she brings her food from afar.

Babylon will become a heap of ruins. Jackals will make their home there. ¹  It will become an object of horror and of hissing scorn, a place where no one lives. ² 

When I had returned, I noticed ¹  a vast number of trees on the banks of the river, on both sides.

(2:5) I looked again, and there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.

When ¹  Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,

All the crowds were amazed and said, “Could this one be the Son of David?”

The ¹  disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, “Then who can be saved?” ² 

And he was amazed because of their unbelief. Then ¹  he went around among the villages and taught.

They were even more astonished and said ¹  to one another, “Then ²  who can be saved?” ³ 

Now ¹  the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they began to wonder ²  why he was delayed in the holy place. ³ 

So ¹  the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, ²  Mary, for you have found favor ³  with God!

So ¹  the child’s ²  father ³  and mother were amazed ⁴  at what was said about him.
