If a person commits a sin punishable by death and is executed, and you hang the corpse ¹  on a tree,

Turn back toward us, O Lord! How long must this suffering last? ¹  Have pity on your servants! ² 

Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed, ¹ 

He remembered his covenant with them, and relented ¹  because of his great loyal love.

So he used suffering to humble them; ¹  they stumbled and no one helped them up.

Certainly ¹  my tongue does not frame a word without you, O Lord, being thoroughly aware of it. ² 

The divine verdict ¹  is in the words ²  of the king, his pronouncements ³  must not act treacherously ⁴  against justice.

Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. ¹ 

The Lord takes his position to judge; he stands up to pass sentence on his people. ¹ 

No, ¹  a wind too strong for that will come at my bidding. Yes, even now I, myself, am calling down judgment on them.’ ² 

I scattered them among the nations; they were dispersed throughout foreign countries. In accordance with their behavior and their deeds I judged them.

this is the interpretation, O king! It is the decision of the Most High that this has happened to my lord the king.
