¹ Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders have perfected your beauty.

The Lord brought Israel out of Egypt by a prophet, and due to a prophet ¹  Israel ²  was preserved alive. ³ 

because he taught them like one who had authority, ¹  not like their experts in the law. ² 

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

For what benefit is it for a person ¹  to gain the whole world, yet ²  forfeit his life?

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

The true light, who gives light to everyone, ¹  was coming into the world. ² 

so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” ¹ 

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  the one who believes ²  has eternal life. ³ 

Because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep, ¹  he runs away. ² 

(Now Jesus had been talking about ¹  his death, but they ²  thought he had been talking about real sleep.) ³ 

He ¹  even tried to desecrate ²  the temple, so we arrested ³  him. ⁴ 

eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,

For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,

Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

Love must be ¹  without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything?

also to submit to people like this, and to everyone who cooperates in the work and labors hard.

I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others. ¹ 

Whatever you are doing, ¹  work at it with enthusiasm, ²  as to the Lord and not for people, ³
