He has searched ¹  the sources ²  of the rivers and what was hidden he has brought into the light.

In what direction is lightning ¹  dispersed, or the east winds scattered over the earth?

When you ignore them, they panic. ¹  When you take away their life’s breath, they die and return to dust.

The father of your nation ¹  sinned; your spokesmen ²  rebelled against me.

But if we say, ‘From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

like the accounts ¹  passed on ²  to us by those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word ³  from the beginning. ⁴ 

For I tell you, not one of those individuals ¹  who were invited ²  will taste my banquet!’” ³ 

So ¹  the first one came before him and said, ‘Sir, ²  your mina ³  has made ten minas more.’

Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

Then another ¹  slave ²  came and said, ‘Sir, here is ³  your mina that I put away for safekeeping ⁴  in a piece of cloth. ⁵ 

But if we say, ‘From people,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

You killed ¹  the Originator ²  of life, whom God raised ³  from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses! ⁴ 

So then, ¹  it does not depend on human desire or exertion, ²  but on God who shows mercy.

It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.

And with this confidence I intended to come to you first so that you would get a second opportunity to see us, ¹ 

For all of you who ¹  were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Let us not become conceited, ¹  provoking ²  one another, being jealous ³  of one another.

¹ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn ²  over all creation, ³ 

For the appeal we make ¹  does not come ²  from error or impurity or with deceit,

For ¹  this is the gospel ²  message ³  that you have heard from the beginning: that we should love one another, ⁴
