“Who shut up ¹  the sea with doors when it burst forth, ²  coming out of the womb,

It makes the deep boil like a cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment, ¹ 

It leaves a glistening wake behind it; one would think the deep had a head of white hair.

It looks on every haughty being; it is king over all that are proud.” ¹ 

He reached down ¹  from above and took hold of me; he pulled me from the surging water. ² 

For the sovereign Lord ¹  is awe-inspiring; ²  he is the great king who rules the whole earth! ³ 

Let the heavens and the earth praise him, along with the seas and everything that swims in them!

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. ¹ 

The sea is his, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land.

Let the rivers clap their hands! Let the mountains sing in unison

Over here is the deep, wide sea, ¹  which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, ²  living things both small and large.

He gave the order for a windstorm, ¹  and it stirred up the waves of the sea. ² 

He does whatever he pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the ocean depths.

to the one who spread out the earth over the water, for his loyal love endures,

As the heaven is high ¹  and the earth is deep so the hearts of kings are unsearchable. ² 

The coastlands ¹  see and are afraid; the whole earth ²  trembles; they approach and come.

This is what the Lord says, the one who made a road through the sea, a pathway through the surging waters,

Now the coastlands will tremble on the day of your fall; the coastlands by the sea will be terrified by your passing.’ ¹ 

Samaria and its king will be carried off ¹  like a twig ²  on the surface of the waters.
