For the commandments ¹  are like ²  a lamp, ³  instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like ⁴  the road leading to life, ⁵ 

A man who commits adultery with a woman lacks wisdom, ¹  whoever does it destroys his own life. ² 

The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way, ¹  but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness. ² 

The wicked person ¹  earns ²  deceitful wages, ³  but the one who sows ⁴  righteousness reaps ⁵  a genuine ⁶  reward. ⁷ 

In the path of righteousness there is life, but another path leads to death. ¹ 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

Righteousness exalts ¹  a nation, but sin is a disgrace ²  to any people.

A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds reproof shows good sense. ¹ 

The Lord abhors ¹  the way of the wicked, but he loves those ²  who pursue ³  righteousness.

Severe discipline ¹  is for the one who abandons the way; the one who hates reproof ²  will die.

remove the wicked from before the king, ¹  and his throne ²  will be established in righteousness. ³ 

He will eat sour milk ¹  and honey, which will help him know how ²  to reject evil and choose what is right.

¹ The way of the righteous is level, the path of the righteous that you make is straight. ² 

Those who stray morally will gain understanding; ¹  those who complain will acquire insight. ² 

The Lord is exalted, ¹  indeed, ²  he lives in heaven; ³  he fills Zion with justice and fairness.

Now ¹  a certain ruler ²  asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ³ 

But if I do what I don’t want, I agree that the law is good. ¹ 

So then, ¹  it does not depend on human desire or exertion, ²  but on God who shows mercy.

Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Stand firm therefore, by fastening ¹  the belt of truth around your waist, ²  by putting on the breastplate of righteousness,
