Their slain will be left unburied, ¹  their corpses will stink; ²  the hills will soak up their blood. ³ 

In addition, the officers are to say to the troops, “Who among you is afraid and fainthearted? He may go home so that he will not make his fellow soldier’s ¹  heart as fearful ²  as his own.”

(64:1) As when fire ignites dry wood, or fire makes water boil, let your adversaries know who you are, ¹  and may the nations shake at your presence!

When the earth and all its inhabitants dissolve in fear, ¹  I make its pillars secure.” ²  (Selah)
