Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The Lord’s word which you have announced is appropriate.” ¹  Then he added, ²  “At least there will be peace and stability during my lifetime.” ³ 

Gedaliah took an oath so as to give them and their troops some assurance of safety. ¹  He said, “You don’t need to be afraid to submit to the Babylonian officials. Settle down in the land and submit to the king of Babylon. Then things will go well for you.”

These ten times ¹  you have been reproaching me; ²  you are not ashamed to attack me! ³ 

He will come and attack Egypt. Those who are destined to die of disease will die of disease. Those who are destined to be carried off into exile will be carried off into exile. Those who are destined to die in war will die in war. ¹ 

So Daniel went in and ¹  requested the king to grant him time, that he might disclose the interpretation to the king.

So I issued an order ¹  for all the wise men of Babylon to be brought ²  before me so that they could make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

I approached one of those standing nearby and asked him about the meaning ¹  of all this. So he spoke with me and revealed ²  to me the interpretation of the vision: ³ 

If ¹  you had known what this means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ ²  you would not have condemned the innocent.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, ¹  for I proclaim to you good news ²  that brings great joy to all the people:

But ¹  the twelve ²  understood none of these things. This ³  saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp ⁴  what Jesus meant. ⁵ 

This is the one about whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is greater than I am, ¹  because he existed before me.’

Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone. ¹ 

It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ ¹  Everyone who hears and learns from the Father ²  comes to me.

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began to argue with one another, ²  “How can this man ³  give us his flesh to eat?”

So Jesus added, ¹  “Because of this I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has allowed him to come.” ² 

Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said the Spirit ¹  will receive from me what is mine ²  and will tell it to you. ³ 

namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ ¹  for all who believe. For there is no distinction,

Is this blessedness ¹  then for ²  the circumcision ³  or also for ⁴  the uncircumcision? For we say, “faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.” ⁵ 

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

and thus the Gentiles glorify God for his mercy. ¹  As it is written, “Because of this I will confess you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praises to your name.” ²
