From Paul, ¹  a slave ²  of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, to further the faith ³  of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth that is in keeping with godliness,

“Do not damage the earth or the sea or the trees until we have put a seal on the foreheads of the servants ¹  of our God.”

If she made the vow in her husband’s house or put herself under obligation with an oath,

The one who forgives ¹  an offense seeks ²  love, but whoever repeats a matter separates close friends. ³ 

A relative ¹  offended ²  is harder to reach than ³  a strong city, and disputes are like the barred gates ⁴  of a fortified citadel. ⁵

So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are ¹  a son, then you are also an heir through God. ² 

The latter do so from love because they know that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³ 

for which I suffer hardship to the point of imprisonment ¹  as a criminal, but God’s message ²  is not imprisoned! ³ 

Slaves ¹  are to be subject to their own masters in everything, ²  to do what is wanted and not talk back,
