By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, and through his faith ¹  he was commended as righteous, because God commended him for his offerings. And through his faith ²  he still speaks, though he is dead.

Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your permission ¹  no one ²  will move his hand or his foot ³  in all the land of Egypt.”

Furthermore it was by the command of the Lord that I marched up against this place to destroy it. The Lord told me, ‘March ¹  up against this land and destroy it.’”’” ² 

They enthroned kings without my consent! ¹  They appointed princes without my approval! ²  They made idols out of their silver and gold, but they will be destroyed! ³

God saw ¹  that the light was good, ²  so God separated ³  the light from the darkness.

to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. ¹  God saw that it was good.

but with Cain and his offering he was not pleased. ¹  So Cain became very angry, ²  and his expression was downcast. ³

Asa did what the Lord approved ¹  like his ancestor ²  David had done.

Throughout his lifetime Jehoash did what the Lord approved, ¹  just as ²  Jehoiada the priest taught him.

He did what the Lord approved, just as his father Amaziah had done. ¹ 

He did what the Lord approved, just as his father Uzziah had done. ¹ 

He did what the Lord approved, just as his ancestor David had done. ¹ 

Joash did what the Lord approved ¹  throughout the lifetime ²  of Jehoiada the priest.
