The dice are thrown into the lap, ¹  but their every decision ²  is from the Lord. ³ 

The high priest who succeeds him ¹  from among his sons must do it. It is a perpetual statute; it must be offered up in smoke as a whole offering to the Lord.

“‘When you gather in the harvest ¹  of your land, you must not completely harvest the corner of your field, ²  and you must not gather up the gleanings of your harvest.

But any sin offering from which some of its blood is brought into the Meeting Tent to make atonement in the sanctuary must not be eaten. It must be burned up in the fire. ¹ 

So Samuel took a nursing lamb ¹  and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. Samuel cried out to the Lord on Israel’s behalf, and the Lord answered him.
