While he was saying these things, many people ¹  believed in him.

Now Sisera ran away on foot to the tent of Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite, for King Jabin of Hazor ¹  and the family of Heber the Kenite had made a peace treaty. ² 

Whoever tries to keep ¹  his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life ²  will preserve it.

Jesus replied, ¹  “You people ²  are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

And what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may eliminate any opportunity for those who want a chance to be regarded as our equals ¹  in the things they boast about.

His intention ¹  will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom, and he will form alliances. ²  He will give the king of the south ³  a daughter ⁴  in marriage in order to destroy the kingdom, but it will not turn out to his advantage.

Early in the morning the men made a treaty with each other. ¹  Isaac sent them off; they separated on good terms. ²

But if you do not agree to our terms ¹  by being circumcised, then we will take ²  our sister ³  and depart.”

But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him kindness. ¹  He granted him favor in the sight of the prison warden. ² 

I also established my covenant with them ¹  to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as resident foreigners. ² 

You are to put the atonement lid on top of the ark, and in the ark you are to put the testimony I am giving you.

and twelve and a half pounds of cassia, all weighed ¹  according to the sanctuary shekel, and four quarts ²  of olive oil.

The Lord said to Moses, “Write down ¹  these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

Every conversion value must be calculated by the standard of the sanctuary shekel; ¹  twenty gerahs to the shekel.

Then I sent messengers from the Kedemoth ¹  Desert to King Sihon of Heshbon with an offer of peace:

If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.

You must inscribe on the stones all the words of this law, making them clear.”

When the messengers went to Gibeah (where Saul lived) ¹  and informed the people of these matters, all the people wept loudly. ² 

He captured King Agag of the Amalekites alive, but he executed all Agag’s people ¹  with the sword.
