For some have already wandered away to follow Satan. ¹ 

“Tell the Israelites, ‘When a person sins by straying unintentionally ¹  from any of the Lord’s commandments which must not be violated, and violates any ²  one of them ³  –

“‘If the whole congregation of Israel strays unintentionally ¹  and the matter is not noticed by ²  the assembly, and they violate one of the Lord’s commandments, which must not be violated, ³  so they become guilty,

“‘Whenever ¹  a leader, by straying unintentionally, ²  sins and violates one of the commandments of the Lord his God which must not be violated, ³  and he pleads guilty,

“‘If an ordinary individual ¹  sins by straying unintentionally ²  when he violates one of the Lord’s commandments which must not be violated, ³  and he pleads guilty

The donkeys of Saul’s father Kish wandered off, ¹  so Kish said to his son Saul, “Take one of the servants with you and go ²  look for the donkeys.” ³ 

For the love of money is the root ¹  of all evils. ²  Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains.

By professing it, some have strayed from the faith. ¹  Grace be with you all. ² 

They have strayed from the truth ¹  by saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and they are undermining some people’s faith.

For you were going astray like sheep ¹  but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

Moreover, the strength of their ¹  hands – what use was it to me? Men whose strength ²  had perished;

Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, ¹  but now I keep your instructions. ² 

So now, children, ¹  listen to me; do not turn aside from the words I speak. ² 

Train ¹  a child ²  in the way that he should go, ³  and when he is old he will not turn from it. ⁴ 

Those who stray morally will gain understanding; ¹  those who complain will acquire insight. ² 

Babylon will become a heap of ruins. Jackals will make their home there. ¹  It will become an object of horror and of hissing scorn, a place where no one lives. ² 

You will die the death of the uncircumcised ¹  by the hand of foreigners; for I have spoken, declares the sovereign Lord.’”

But avoid profane chatter, ¹  because those occupied with it will stray further and further into ungodliness, ² 

“If a man grazes ¹  his livestock ²  in a field or a vineyard, and he lets the livestock loose and they graze in the field of another man, he must make restitution from the best of his own field and the best of his own vineyard.

All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the Lord caused the sin of all of us to attack him. ¹
