That is what will result from your making me angry by what you are doing. ¹  You are making me angry by sacrificing to other gods here in the land of Egypt where you live. You will be destroyed for doing that! You will become an example used in curses ²  and an object of ridicule among all the nations of the earth. ³ 

I will see to it that all the Judean remnant that was determined to go ¹  and live in the land of Egypt will be destroyed. Here in the land of Egypt they will fall in battle ²  or perish from starvation. People of every class ³  will die in war or from starvation. They will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example of those who have been cursed and that people use in pronouncing a curse. ⁴ 

All who see me taunt ¹  me; they mock me ²  and shake their heads. ³ 

You made us ¹  an object of ridicule ²  among the nations; foreigners treat us with contempt. ³ 

Look, they hurl insults at me and openly threaten to kill me, ¹  for they say, ²  “Who hears?”

You have made our neighbors dislike us, ¹  and our enemies insult us.

Arrogant people do nothing but scoff at me. ¹  Yet I do not turn aside from your law.

We have had our fill ¹  of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud.

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

A craftsman casts ¹  an idol; a metalsmith overlays it with gold and forges silver chains for it.

But I am not really the one being troubled!” ¹  says the Lord. “Rather they are bringing trouble on themselves to their own shame! ² 

I will bring on you lasting shame and lasting disgrace which will never be forgotten!’”

I have become the laughingstock of all people, ¹  their mocking song ²  all day long. ³ 

he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him. ¹ 

You are blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, ¹ 

Zebul said to him, “Where now are your bragging words, ¹  ‘Who is Abimelech that we should serve him?’ Are these not the men ²  you insulted? ³  Go out now and fight them!”

then I will remove you ¹  from my land I have given you, ²  I will abandon this temple I have consecrated with my presence, ³  and I will make you ⁴  an object of mockery and ridicule ⁵  among all the nations.

But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard all this, ¹  they derided us and expressed contempt toward us. They said, “What is this you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
