So it was necessary for the sketches ¹  of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, ²  but the heavenly things themselves required ³  better sacrifices than these.

All Israel from Dan to Beer Sheba realized that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord.

He replied, “Yes, ¹  go and say to your master, ‘Elijah is back.’” ² 

For a long time ¹  Israel had no true God, or priest to instruct them, or law.

“But these things ¹  you have concealed in your heart; I know that this ²  is with you: ³ 

if he retains it for himself and does not let it go, and holds it fast in his mouth, ¹ 

And he said to mankind, ‘The fear of the Lord ¹  – that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’” ² 

The Lord delivers; ¹  you show favor to your people. ²  (Selah)

Day and night they walk around on its walls, ¹  while wickedness and destruction ²  are within it.

They are like a dream after one wakes up. ¹  O Lord, when you awake ²  you will despise them. ³ 

How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

None who go in to her will return, ¹  nor will they reach the paths of life. ² 

For the one who finds me finds ¹  life and receives ²  favor from the Lord.

The wicked person ¹  earns ²  deceitful wages, ³  but the one who sows ⁴  righteousness reaps ⁵  a genuine ⁶  reward. ⁷ 

An unreliable ¹  messenger falls ²  into trouble, ³  but a faithful envoy ⁴  brings ⁵  healing.

A person who has friends ¹  may be harmed by them, ²  but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

A rich person ¹  is wise in his own eyes, ²  but a discerning poor person can evaluate him properly. ³ 

The one who trusts in his own heart ¹  is a fool, but the one who walks in wisdom ²  will escape. ³ 

Look, all of them are nothing, ¹  their accomplishments are nonexistent; their metal images lack any real substance. ² 

I, the Lord, affirm ¹  that I am opposed to those prophets who are using their own tongues to declare, ‘The Lord declares….’ ²
