Jehoshaphat’s kingdom enjoyed peace; his God made him secure on every side. ¹ 

(When they heard ¹  that he was addressing ²  them in Aramaic, ³  they became even ⁴  quieter.) ⁵  Then ⁶  Paul said,

Look, you will have a son, who will be a peaceful man. ¹  I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. ²  Indeed, Solomon ³  will be his name; I will give Israel peace and quiet during his reign. ⁴ 

All the people of the land celebrated, for the city had rest now that they had killed Athaliah with the sword in the royal palace.

But if God ¹  is quiet, who can condemn ²  him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet ³  he is over the individual and the nation alike, ⁴ 

For this is what the Lord has told me: “I will wait ¹  and watch from my place, like scorching heat produced by the sunlight, ²  like a cloud of mist ³  in the heat ⁴  of harvest.” ⁵ 

Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat. ¹ 

but the inner person ¹  of the heart, the lasting beauty of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.

For he knows no satisfaction in his appetite; ¹  he does not let anything he desires ²  escape. ³ 

He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water.

A fool lets fly with all his temper, ¹  but a wise person keeps it back. ² 

Better is one handful with some rest than two hands full of toil ¹  and chasing the wind.

How long will you cry out, ¹  ‘Oh, sword of the Lord, how long will it be before you stop killing? ²  Go back into your sheath! Stay there and rest!’ ³ 

But how can it rest ¹  when I, the Lord, have ²  given it orders? I have ordered it to attack the people of Ashkelon and the seacoast. ³ 

The ¹  crowd scolded ²  them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, “Lord, have mercy on us, ³  Son of David!”

Many scolded ¹  him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And those who were in front ¹  scolded ²  him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted ³  even more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

For this is what the master, the Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: “If you repented and patiently waited for me, you would be delivered; ¹  if you calmly trusted in me you would find strength, ²  but you are unwilling.

“One man dies in his full vigor, ¹  completely secure and prosperous,

For this reason whoever is smart ¹  keeps quiet ²  in such a time, for it is an evil ³  time.
