God brought them out of Egypt. They have, as it were, the strength of a young bull; they will devour hostile people ¹  and will break their bones and will pierce them through with arrows.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

Their swords will pierce ¹  their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

ה (He) He shot ¹  his arrows ²  into my heart. ³ 

you shall take an awl and pierce a hole through his ear to the door. ¹  Then he will become your servant permanently (this applies to your female servant as well).

his archers ¹  surround me. Without pity ²  he pierces ³  my kidneys and pours out my gall ⁴  on the ground.

But you have been thrown out of your grave like a shoot that is thrown away. ¹  You lie among ²  the slain, among those who have been slashed by the sword, among those headed for ³  the stones of the pit, ⁴  as if you were a mangled corpse. ⁵

Your arrows are sharp and penetrate the hearts of the king’s enemies. Nations fall at your feet. ¹ 

ט (Tet) Those who died by the sword ¹  are better off than those who die of hunger, ²  those who ³  waste away, ⁴  struck down ⁵  from lack of ⁶  food. ⁷ 

From there it spots ¹  its prey, ²  its eyes gaze intently from a distance.

But God will shoot ¹  at them; suddenly they will be ²  wounded by an arrow. ³ 

Yes, ¹  my spirit was bitter, ²  and my insides felt sharp pain. ³ 

For I am oppressed and needy, and my heart beats violently within me. ¹ 

Here’s how! ¹  With the sharp arrows of warriors, with arrowheads forged over the hot coals. ² 

At the sound of your captains’ cry the waves will surge; ¹ 

His ¹  anger has torn me ²  and persecuted ³  me; he has gnashed at me with his teeth; my adversary locks ⁴  his eyes on me.
