The one who builds a city by bloodshed is as good as dead ¹  – he who starts ²  a town by unjust deeds.

For I see that you are bitterly envious ¹  and in bondage to sin.”

Even as I have seen, ¹  those who plow ²  iniquity ³  and those who sow trouble reap the same. ⁴ 

If I sinned, then you would watch me and you would not acquit me of my iniquity.

if ¹  iniquity is in your hand – put it far away, ²  and do not let evil reside in your tents.

How many are my ¹  iniquities and sins? Show me my transgression and my sin. ² 

My offenses would be sealed up ¹  in a bag; ²  you would cover over ³  my sin.

The heavens reveal his iniquity; the earth rises up against him.

then this ¹  also would be iniquity to be judged, ²  for I would have been false ³  to God above.

if ¹  I have covered my transgressions as men do, ²  by hiding ³  iniquity in my heart, ⁴ 

for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. ¹ 

Wash away my wrongdoing! ¹  Cleanse me of my sin! ² 

Hide your face ¹  from my sins! Wipe away ²  all my guilt!

You pardoned ¹  the wrongdoing of your people; you forgave ²  all their sin. (Selah)

He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; ¹  he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve. ² 

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

The wicked ¹  will be captured by his ²  own iniquities, ³  and he will be held ⁴  by the cords of his own sin. ⁵ 

Through loyal love and truth ¹  iniquity is appeased; ²  through fearing the Lord ³  one avoids ⁴  evil. ⁵ 

A crooked witness ¹  scorns justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours ²  iniquity.

keeping loyal love for thousands, ¹  forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. But he by no means leaves the guilty unpunished, responding to the transgression ²  of fathers by dealing with children and children’s children, to the third and fourth generation.”
