When I tried to make sense of this, it was troubling to me. ¹ 

He said to them, “Out of the one who eats came something to eat; out of the strong one came something sweet.” They could not solve the riddle for three days.

Likewise one of the second cherub’s wings was seven and one-half feet long and touched the other wall of the temple; its other wing was also seven and one-half feet long and touched one of the first cherub’s wings. ¹ 

For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself ¹  does anything in secret. ²  If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”

Now he was acting as the guardian ¹  of Hadassah ²  (that is, Esther), the daughter of his uncle, for neither her father nor her mother was alive. ³  This young woman was very attractive and had a beautiful figure. ⁴  When her father and mother died, Mordecai had raised her ⁵  as if she were his own daughter.

I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, ¹  so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.

You are to make two cherubim ¹  of gold; you are to make them of hammered metal on the two ends of the atonement lid.

He made the curtain out of violet, purple, crimson, and white fabrics, and embroidered on it decorative cherubim.

People ¹  who had seen him will not see him again, and the place where he was will recognize him no longer.

Let us evaluate ¹  for ourselves what is right; ²  let us come to know among ourselves what is good.

You prove to be reliable ¹  to one who is blameless, but you prove to be deceptive ²  to one who is perverse. ³ 

Trust ¹  in the Lord with all your heart, ²  and do not rely ³  on your own understanding. ⁴ 

Do not plot ¹  evil against your neighbor when ²  he dwells by you unsuspectingly.

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. ¹  Who can understand it?

In the fire ¹  were what looked like ²  four living beings. ³  In their appearance they had human form, ⁴ 

Then I said, “O sovereign Lord! They are saying of me, ‘Does he not simply speak in eloquent figures of speech?’”

Then the one who appeared to be a human being touched me again ¹  and strengthened me.

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” And I said, “No, sir.”

Completely baffled, they said, ¹  “Aren’t ²  all these who are speaking Galileans?

For we consider that a person ¹  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. ²
