and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites ¹  from staring ²  at the result ³  of the glory that was made ineffective. ⁴ 

The priest must then examine it again on the seventh day, ¹  and if ²  the infection has faded and has not spread on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce the person clean. ³  It is a scab, ⁴  so he must wash his clothes ⁵  and be clean.

But if the ministry that produced death – carved in letters on stone tablets ¹  – came with glory, so that the Israelites ²  could not keep their eyes fixed on the face of Moses because of the glory of his face ³  (a glory ⁴  which was made ineffective), ⁵ 

As ¹  a cloud is dispersed and then disappears, ²  so the one who goes down to the grave ³  does not come up again. ⁴ 

“At that time ¹  Jacob’s splendor will be greatly diminished, ²  and he will become skin and bones. ³ 

For if what was made ineffective ¹  came with ²  glory, how much more has what remains ³  come in glory!

We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in your sight. ¹  We all wither like a leaf; our sins carry us away like the wind.

because the sun’s light failed. ¹  The temple curtain ²  was torn in two.

You will surely wear out, ¹  both you and these people who are with you, for this is too ²  heavy a burden ³  for you; you are not able to do it by yourself.

He is like ¹  a tree planted by flowing streams; ²  it ³  yields ⁴  its fruit at the proper time, ⁵  and its leaves never fall off. ⁶  He succeeds in everything he attempts. ⁷ 

and the doors along the street are shut; when the sound of the grinding mill ¹  grows low, and one is awakened ²  by the sound of a bird, and all their ³  songs ⁴  grow faint, ⁵ 

They will say, ¹  ‘Prepare to do battle ²  against it! Come on! Let’s attack it at noon!’ But later they will say, ³  ‘Oh, oh! Too bad! ⁴  The day is almost over and the shadows of evening are getting long.

Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.

and like a robe you will fold them up and like a garment ¹  they will be changed, but you are the same and your years will never run out.” ² 

For you ¹  will forget your trouble; ²  you will remember it like water that ³  has flowed away.

He grows up ¹  like a flower and then withers away; ²  he flees like a shadow, and does not remain. ³ 

My spirit is broken, ¹  my days have faded out, ²  the grave ³  awaits me.

Like a dream he flies away, never again to be found, ¹  and like a vision of the night he is put to flight.

During his days the godly will flourish; ¹  peace will prevail as long as the moon remains in the sky. ² 

Charm is deceitful ¹  and beauty is fleeting, ²  but a woman who fears the Lord ³  will be praised.
