But they encountered a patch of crosscurrents ¹  and ran the ship aground; the bow stuck fast and could not be moved, but the stern was being broken up by the force ²  of the waves.

As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

since you are encountering ¹  the same conflict that you saw me face and now hear that I am facing. ²
