“To ¹  what should I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to one another, ² 

He ¹  told them many things in parables, ²  saying: “Listen! ³  A sower went out to sow. ⁴ 

When ¹  the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.

He taught them many things in parables, ¹  and in his teaching said to them:

He also asked, “To what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use to present it?

Thus Jesus ¹  asked, ²  “What is the kingdom of God ³  like? ⁴  To ⁵  what should I compare it?

For indeed, what had been glorious now ¹  has no glory because of the tremendously greater glory of what replaced it. ² 

I am not saying this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness of others. ¹ 

Samaria has not committed half the sins you have; you have done more abominable deeds than they did. ¹  You have made your sisters appear righteous with all the abominable things you have done.

For we would not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who recommend themselves. But when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding. ¹ 

It is higher ¹  than the heavens – what can you do? It is deeper than Sheol ²  – what can you know?

Look, the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales. He lifts ¹  the coastlands ²  as if they were dust.

For a moth will eat away at them like clothes; a clothes moth will devour them like wool. But the vindication I provide ¹  will be permanent; the deliverance I give will last.”

so that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you have done in consoling them.

“‘Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, ¹  planted by water. It was fruitful and full of branches because it was well-watered.

Recite a proverb to this rebellious house ¹  and say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Set on the pot, ²  set it on, pour water in it too;

He gave ¹  them another parable: ²  “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed ³  that a man took and sowed in his field.

So ¹  he called them and spoke to them in parables: ²  “How can Satan cast out Satan?

So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.

But you should be eager for the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. ¹
