And the people went about and gathered it, and ground it with mills or pounded it in mortars; they baked it in pans and made cakes of it. It tasted like fresh olive oil. ¹ 

Then she handed ¹  the tasty food and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.

Its legs were of iron; its feet were partly of iron and partly of clay. ¹ 

Ephraim has mixed itself like flour ¹  among the nations; Ephraim is like a ruined cake of bread that is scorched on one side. ² 

Then they said to one another, ¹  “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” ²  (They had brick instead of stone and tar ³  instead of mortar.) ⁴ 

So Abraham hurried into the tent and said to Sarah, “Quick! Take ¹  three measures ²  of fine flour, knead it, and make bread.” ³ 

If your offering is a grain offering made on the griddle, it must be choice wheat flour mixed with olive oil, unleavened.

So he said to me, “All right then, I will substitute cow’s manure instead of human excrement. You will cook your food over it.”

He will take your daughters to be ointment makers, cooks, and bakers.

She said, “As certainly as the Lord your God lives, I have no food, except for a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. Right now I am gathering a couple of sticks for a fire. Then I’m going home to make one final meal for my son and myself. After we have eaten that, we will die of starvation.” ¹ 

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

He will not look on the streams, ¹  the rivers, which are the torrents ²  of honey and butter. ³ 

when the dust hardens ¹  into a mass, and the clumps of earth stick together?

“Come, eat ¹  some of my food, and drink some of the wine I have mixed. ² 

The water of the sea will be dried up, and the river will dry up and be empty. ¹ 

Our skin is hot as an oven due to a fever from hunger. ¹ 

If your offering is a grain offering made in a pan, ¹  it must be made of choice wheat flour deep fried in olive oil. ² 

“I would feed Israel the best wheat, ¹  and would satisfy your appetite ²  with honey from the rocky cliffs.” ³ 

along with the plants by the mouth of the river. ¹  All the cultivated land near the river will turn to dust and be blown away. ² 

Now a man from Baal Shalisha brought some food for the prophet ¹  – twenty loaves of bread made from the firstfruits of the barley harvest, as well as fresh ears of grain. ²  Elisha ³  said, “Set it before the people so they may eat.”
