Then I asked the angelic messenger ¹  who was speaking with me, “What are these, sir?”

But ¹  they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten minas already!’ ² 

When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me. I answered, ‘Here I am!’

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” So I responded, “No, sir.”

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” And I said, “No, sir.”

“Why ¹  do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ ²  and don’t do what I tell you? ³ 

So ¹  the first one came before him and said, ‘Sir, ²  your mina ³  has made ten minas more.’

Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

Then another ¹  slave ²  came and said, ‘Sir, here is ³  your mina that I put away for safekeeping ⁴  in a piece of cloth. ⁵ 

She said, “You really are being kind to me, ¹  sir, ²  for you have reassured ³  and encouraged ⁴  me, your servant, ⁵  even though I am ⁶  not one of your servants!” ⁷ 

She said, “Just as surely as you are alive, my lord, I am the woman who previously stood here with you in order to pray to the Lord.

Then I asked one nearby, “What are these, sir?” The angelic messenger ¹  who replied to me said, “I will show you what these are.”

The ¹  one with the two talents also came and said, ‘Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.’

She replied, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”]] ¹ 

Gideon said to him, “Pardon me, ¹  but if the Lord is with us, why has such disaster ²  overtaken us? Where are all his miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said, ³  ‘Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

Then the Gadites and the Reubenites answered, “Your servants will do what the Lord has spoken. ¹ 

Every wise woman ¹  builds ²  her household, ³  but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.

I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, “Sir, ¹  what will happen after these things?”

So I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord replied, ¹  ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.

Therefore keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God ¹  that it will be just as I have been told.
