The highway ¹  of the upright is to turn ²  away from evil; the one who guards ³  his way safeguards his life. ⁴ 

But reject foolish and ignorant ¹  controversies, because you know they breed infighting. ² 

All the relatives ¹  of a poor person hate him; ²  how much more do his friends avoid him – he pursues them ³  with words, but they do not respond. ⁴ 

Since many of them had no desire to eat, ¹  Paul ²  stood up ³  among them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me ⁴  and not put out to sea ⁵  from Crete, thus avoiding ⁶  this damage and loss.

Then I ¹  said, “The thing that you are doing is wrong! ²  Should you not conduct yourselves ³  in the fear of our God in order to avoid the reproach of the Gentiles who are our enemies?

Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee to escape your presence? ¹ 

Surely no one knows the future, ¹  and no one can tell another person what will happen. ² 

But the one united with ¹  the Lord is one spirit with him. ² 

So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

Because of my condition, ¹  even my friends and acquaintances keep their distance; ²  my neighbors stand far away. ³ 

that you abstain from meat that has been sacrificed to idols ¹  and from blood and from what has been strangled ²  and from sexual immorality. ³  If you keep yourselves from doing these things, ⁴  you will do well. Farewell. ⁵ 

But because of immoralities, each man should have relations with ¹  his own wife and each woman with ²  her own husband.

Those who want to make a good showing in external matters ¹  are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so ²  only to avoid being persecuted ³  for the cross of Christ.

Remind people ¹  of these things and solemnly charge them ²  before the Lord ³  not to wrangle over words. This is of no benefit; it just brings ruin on those who listen. ⁴ 

“‘I will put my tabernacle ¹  in your midst and I will not abhor you. ² 

My kinsmen have failed me; my friends ¹  have forgotten me. ² 

There are those ¹  who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.

I stay away ¹  from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions. ² 

Keep yourself ¹  far ²  from her, and do not go near the door of her house,

Righteousness exalts ¹  a nation, but sin is a disgrace ²  to any people.
