Now ¹  someone came up to him and said, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?”

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? ¹  No one is good except God alone.

Jesus ¹  said to him, “Why do you call me good? ²  No one is good except God alone.

(for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation,

Yet do it with courtesy and respect, ¹  keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you. ² 

It lasted until the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year. ¹  On that day they broke through the city walls.

By the ninth day of the fourth month ¹  the famine in the city was so severe the residents ²  had no food.

Then the Lord spoke again to Haggai ¹  on the twenty-fourth day of the month: ² 

In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad ¹  tree bears bad fruit.

A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

he has filled the hungry with good things, ¹  and has sent the rich away empty. ² 

Yet ¹  Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to a woman who was a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. ² 

Now ¹  a certain ruler ²  asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ³ 

Now ¹  there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, ²  a good and righteous man.

eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,

but ¹  glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.

For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!

Love must be ¹  without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.

Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches ¹  it.
