But he answered, ¹  “It is written, ‘Man ²  does not live ³  by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ⁴ 

I ¹  tell you the truth, ²  until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter ³  will pass from the law until everything takes place.

and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely ¹  and crucified. ²  Yet ³  on the third day, he will be raised.”

But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!”

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

saying, “The Son of Man must suffer ¹  many things and be rejected by the elders, ²  chief priests, and experts in the law, ³  and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” ⁴ 

The ¹  women ²  were terribly frightened ³  and bowed ⁴  their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living ⁵  among the dead?

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  a time ²  is coming – and is now here – when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

For this is the will of my Father – for everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him to have eternal life, and I will raise him up ¹  at the last day.” ² 

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes ¹  me will live because of me.

and ¹  for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied ²  him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These ³  are now his witnesses to the people.

For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.

Or do you not know, brothers and sisters ¹  (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law is lord over a person ²  as long as he lives?

For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that he may be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

The one who is spiritual discerns ¹  all things, yet he himself is understood ²  by no one.

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, ¹  how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

who made us adequate ¹  to be servants of a new covenant ²  not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

We do so ¹  because we know that the one who raised up Jesus ²  will also raise us up with Jesus and will bring us with you into his presence.

Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth ¹  we are absent from the Lord –
