“Due to your great compassion you did not abandon them in the desert. The pillar of cloud did not stop guiding them in the path by day, ¹  nor did the pillar of fire stop illuminating for them by night the path on which they should travel.

Then ¹  the fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. And there was no light for a third of the day ²  and for a third of the night likewise.

So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will ¹  bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition ²  from God.

When Aaron sets up the lamps around sundown he is to burn incense on it; it is to be a regular incense offering before the Lord throughout your generations.

You are to bring in the table and set out the things that belong on it; ¹  then you are to bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.

But the Lord was unwilling to destroy David’s dynasty ¹  because of the promise ²  he had made to give David a perpetual dynasty. ³

the pure gold lampstands and their lamps which burned as specified at the entrance to the inner sanctuary,

Do you know how God commands them, ¹  how he makes lightning flash in his storm cloud? ² 

There I will make David strong; ¹  I have determined that my chosen king’s dynasty will continue. ² 

They offer burnt sacrifices to the Lord every morning and every evening, along with fragrant incense. They arrange the Bread of the Presence on a ritually clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. Certainly ¹  we are observing the Lord our God’s regulations, but you have rejected him.

he who commands the sun and ¹  it does not shine ²  and seals up ³  the stars;

Out of its mouth go flames, ¹  sparks of fire shoot forth!

for the evil person has no future, ¹  and the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished. ²
