And now, Father, glorify me at your side ¹  with the glory I had with you before the world was created. ² 

I made known your name to them, and I will continue to make it known, ¹  so that the love you have loved me with may be in them, and I may be in them.”

But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!” ¹ 

And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.” ¹ 

So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.

I wish that everyone was as I am. But each has his own gift from God, one this way, another that.

Who ever serves in the army at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Who tends a flock and does not consume its milk?

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.

Every day I am in danger of death! This is as sure as ¹  my boasting in you, ²  which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Therefore we do not despair, ¹  but even if our physical body ²  is wearing away, our inner person ³  is being renewed day by day.

But be that as it may, I have not burdened you. Yet because I was a crafty person, I took you in by deceit!

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming ¹  a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) ² 

They are darkened in their understanding, ¹  being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.

Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition ¹  or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.

So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: ¹  sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, ²  evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.

But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate ¹  of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation. ² 

But the aim of our instruction ¹  is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. ² 

Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good.
