I will send a plague into the city ¹  and bloodshed into its streets; the slain will fall within it, by the sword that attacks it ²  from every side. Then they will know that I am the Lord.

He inquired of Arioch the king’s deputy, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” ¹  Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter.

And at Daniel’s request, the king ¹  appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the administration of the province of Babylon. Daniel himself served in the king’s court. ² 

He said, “Go, Daniel. For these matters are closed and sealed until the time of the end.

But you should go your way ¹  until the end. ²  You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive ³  what you have been allotted.” ⁴ 

I will put an end to all her celebration: her annual religious festivals, monthly new moon celebrations, and weekly Sabbath festivities – all her appointed festivals.

Listen! The Lord is calling ¹  to the city! It is wise to respect your authority, O Lord! ²  Listen, O nation, and those assembled in the city! ³ 

The Lord is a zealous ¹  and avenging ²  God; the Lord is avenging and very angry. ³  The Lord takes vengeance ⁴  against his foes; he sustains his rage ⁵  against his enemies.

Your shepherds ¹  are sleeping, O king of Assyria! Your officers ²  are slumbering! ³  Your people are scattered like sheep ⁴  on the mountains and there is no one to regather them!

‘We played the flute for you, yet you did not dance; ¹  we wailed in mourning, ²  yet you did not weep.’

For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. ¹ 

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.” ¹ 

When they heard this, they were delighted ¹  and promised to give him money. ²  So ³  Judas ⁴  began looking for an opportunity to betray him.

“A certain creditor ¹  had two debtors; one owed him ²  five hundred silver coins, ³  and the other fifty.

and Joanna the wife of Cuza ¹  (Herod’s ²  household manager), ³  Susanna, and many others who provided for them ⁴  out of their own resources.

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, ²  but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ³ 

“Exert every effort ¹  to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

So ¹  he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!” ² 

¹ He found in the temple courts ²  those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables. ³
