The men of the city said to Elisha, “Look, the city has a good location, as our ¹  master can see. But the water is bad and the land doesn’t produce crops.” ² 

In whatever situation someone was called, brothers and sisters, ¹  let him remain in it with God.

These cities were ¹  in the lowlands: ²  Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,

You are no more secure ¹  than Thebes ²  – she was located on the banks of the Nile; the waters surrounded her, her ³  rampart ⁴  was the sea, the water ⁵  was her wall.

Let each one remain in that situation in life ¹  in which he was called.

Say to Tyre, who sits at the entrance ¹  of the sea, ²  merchant to the peoples on many coasts, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘O Tyre, you have said, “I am perfectly beautiful.”
