Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, ¹  so that the outside may become clean too!

You fools! ¹  Didn’t the one who made the outside make the inside as well? ² 

He constructed the walls inside the temple with cedar planks; he paneled the inside with wood from the floor of the temple to the rafters ¹  of the ceiling. He covered the temple floor with boards made from the wood of evergreens.

He overlaid it with pure gold, inside and out, and he made a surrounding border ¹  of gold for it.

In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Make ¹  for yourself an ark of cypress ²  wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover ³  it with pitch inside and out.

You are to overlay ¹  it with pure gold – both inside and outside you must overlay it, ²  and you are to make a surrounding border ³  of gold over it.
