There ¹  the wicked ²  cease ³  from turmoil, ⁴  and there the weary ⁵  are at rest.

I will fully satisfy the needs of those who are weary and fully refresh the souls of those who are faint. ¹ 

You gave the weary ¹  no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.

Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble. ¹ 

But you, brothers and sisters, ¹  do not grow weary in doing what is right.

So Isaiah replied, ¹  “Pay attention, ²  family ³  of David. ⁴  Do you consider it too insignificant to try the patience of men? Is that why you are also trying the patience of my God?

The king and all the people who were with him arrived exhausted at their destination, where David ¹  refreshed himself.

I am also aware ¹  that you have persisted steadfastly, ²  endured much for the sake of my name, and have not grown weary.

We are pursued – they are breathing down our necks; ¹  we are weary and have no rest. ² 

Don’t set foot too frequently ¹  in your neighbor’s house, lest he become weary ²  of you and hate you.

“But you did not call for me, O Jacob; you did not long ¹  for me, O Israel.

In the past he said to them, ¹  “This is where security can be found. Provide security for the one who is exhausted! This is where rest can be found.” ²  But they refused to listen.

So we must not grow weary ¹  in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. ² 

Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.

I hate your new moon festivals and assemblies; they are a burden that I am tired of carrying.

Bel ¹  kneels down, Nebo ²  bends low. Their images weigh down animals and beasts. ³  Your heavy images are burdensome to tired animals. ⁴ 

One friend deceives another and no one tells the truth. These people have trained themselves ¹  to tell lies. They do wrong and are unable to repent.

O God, you cause abundant showers to fall ¹  on your chosen people. ²  When they ³  are tired, you sustain them, ⁴ 

Like cold water to a weary person, ¹  so is good news from a distant land. ² 

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
