When ¹  he was twelve years old, ²  they went up ³  according to custom.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  went out and made his way, ³  as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives, ⁴  and the disciples followed him.

The king sat down in his usual place by the wall, with Jonathan opposite him ¹  and Abner at his side. ²  But David’s place was vacant.

Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with rage, and his disposition changed ¹  toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He gave orders ²  to heat the furnace seven times hotter than it was normally heated.

As he was speaking with them, the champion named Goliath, the Philistine from Gath, was coming up from the battle lines of the Philistines. He spoke the way he usually did, ¹  and David heard it.

And the landowner ¹  replied to one of them, ²  ‘Friend, I am not treating you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for the standard wage? ³ 

A generation comes ¹  and a generation goes, ²  but the earth remains ³  the same ⁴  through the ages. ⁵ 

When those hired about five o’clock came, each received a full day’s pay. ¹ 

It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

And you didn’t stop there, O Lord God! You have also spoken about the future of your servant’s family. ¹  Is this your usual way of dealing with men, ²  O Lord God?

Groan in silence for the dead, ¹  but do not perform mourning rites. ²  Bind on your turban ³  and put your sandals on your feet. Do not cover your lip ⁴  and do not eat food brought by others.” ⁵ 

She left immediately, ¹  removed her veil, and put on her widow’s clothes.

and make it into an incense, ¹  a perfume, ²  the work of a perfumer. It is to be finely ground, ³  and pure and sacred.

And after agreeing with the workers for the standard wage, ¹  he sent them into his vineyard.

And when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more. But each one also received the standard wage.

Now ¹  Jesus ²  went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.

Then the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to release a prisoner for them, as was his custom. ¹ 

Then ¹  he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land sprouted with a harvest.

On the sixth day ¹  they will prepare what they bring in, and it will be twice as much as they gather every other day.” ²
