You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor ¹  idols, do you rob temples?

For you took my silver and my gold and brought my precious valuables to your own palaces. ¹ 

Like a slice of pomegranate is your forehead ¹  behind your veil.

The God who made the world and everything in it, ¹  who is ²  Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands, ³ 

He will demolish the sacred pillars in the temple of the sun ¹  in Egypt and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.”’”

Yet the Most High ¹  does not live in houses made by human hands, ²  as the prophet says,

You must not round off the corners of the hair on your head or ruin the corners of your beard. ¹ 

For you have brought these men here who are neither temple robbers ¹  nor blasphemers of our goddess. ²
