“Who is this that rises like the Nile, like its streams ¹  turbulent at flood stage?

Egypt rises like the Nile, like its streams turbulent at flood stage. Egypt says, ‘I will arise and cover the earth. I will destroy cities and the people who inhabit them.’

If the river rages, ¹  it is not disturbed, it is secure, ²  though the Jordan should surge up to its mouth.

Cries of anguish will arise in Horonaim, ‘Oh, the ruin and great destruction!’

At the sound of your captains’ cry the waves will surge; ¹ 

But you trample on the sea with your horses, on the surging, raging waters. ¹ 

when its waves ¹  crash ²  and foam, and the mountains shake ³  before the surging sea. ⁴  (Selah)

You rule over the proud sea. ¹  When its waves surge, ²  you calm them.

I am the Lord your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves surge. The Lord who commands armies is his name!

In a burst ¹  of anger I rejected you ²  momentarily, but with lasting devotion I will have compassion on you,” says your protector, ³  the Lord.

But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind.

Because of this the earth ¹  will quake, ²  and all who live in it will mourn. The whole earth ³  will rise like the River Nile, ⁴  it will surge upward ⁵  and then grow calm, ⁶  like the Nile in Egypt. ⁷ 

After she and her household were baptized, she urged us, ¹  “If ²  you consider me to be a believer in the Lord, ³  come and stay in my house.” And she persuaded ⁴  us.
