And the streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing. ¹ 

Let them fall ¹  slain in the land of Babylonia, ²  mortally wounded in the streets of her cities. ³ 

They howl in the streets because of what happened to the wine; ¹  all joy turns to sorrow; ²  celebrations disappear from the earth. ³ 

Do you see ¹  what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? ² 

You have killed many people in this city; you have filled its streets with corpses.’

Should your springs be dispersed ¹  outside, your streams of water in the wide plazas?

He will not quarrel or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

But whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  do not welcome ⁴  you, go into its streets ⁵  and say,

Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ ¹ 

In their streets they wear sackcloth; on their roofs and in their town squares all of them wail, they fall down weeping.

Disaster is within it; violence ¹  and deceit do not depart from its public square.

I grind them as fine windblown dust; ¹  I beat them underfoot ²  like clay ³  in the streets.

The sluggard says, “There is a lion ¹  outside! I will be killed in the middle of the streets!” ² 

The sluggard ¹  says, “There is a lion in the road! A lion in the streets!” ² 

ה (He) Those who once feasted on delicacies ¹  are now starving to death ²  in the streets. Those who grew up ³  wearing expensive clothes ⁴  are now dying ⁵  amid garbage. ⁶ 

נ (Nun) They ¹  wander blindly ²  through the streets, defiled by the blood they shed, ³  while no one dares ⁴  to touch their garments.

The chariots ¹  race madly ²  through the streets, they rush back and forth ³  in the broad plazas; they look ⁴  like lightning bolts, ⁵  they dash here and there ⁶  like flashes of lightning. ⁷ 

צ (Tsade) Our enemies ¹  hunted us down at every step ²  so that we could not walk about in our streets. Our end drew near, our days were numbered, ³  for our end had come!

Tyre built herself a fortification and piled up silver like dust and gold like the mud of the streets!

Our cattle will be weighted down with produce. ¹  No one will break through our walls, no one will be taken captive, and there will be no terrified cries in our city squares. ²
