He calmed the storm, ¹  and the waves ²  grew silent.

¹ His thunder announces the coming storm, the cattle also, concerning the storm’s approach.

How often ¹  are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff swept away ²  by a whirlwind?

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, ¹  they began throwing the cargo overboard, ² 

For you are a protector for the poor, a protector for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. Though the breath of tyrants ¹  is like a winter rainstorm, ² 

You will advance; ¹  you will come like a storm. You will be like a cloud covering the earth, you, all your troops, and the many other peoples with you.

You pick me up on the wind and make me ride on it; ¹  you toss me about ²  in the storm. ³ 

These men ¹  are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm, for whom the utter depths of darkness ²  have been reserved.

when what you dread ¹  comes like a whirlwind, ²  and disaster strikes you ³  like a devastating storm, ⁴  when distressing trouble ⁵  comes on you.

But just watch! ¹  The wrath of the Lord will come like a storm! ²  Like a raging storm it will rage down ³  on the heads of those who are wicked.

I will hurry off to a place that is safe from the strong wind ¹  and the gale.”

The Lord is slow to anger ¹  but great in power; ²  the Lord will certainly not ³  allow the wicked ⁴  to go unpunished.He marches out ⁵  in the whirlwind and the raging storm; dark storm clouds billow like dust ⁶  under his feet. ⁷ 

By day it will be a shelter to provide shade from the heat, as well as safety and protection from the heavy downpour. ¹ 

Just watch! The wrath of the Lord will come like a storm. Like a raging storm it will rage down on the heads of those who are wicked.

And a great storm developed on the sea so that the waves began to swamp the boat. But he was asleep.

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:

“O afflicted one, driven away, ¹  and unconsoled! Look, I am about to set your stones in antimony and I lay your foundation with lapis-lazuli.

Look, the sovereign master ¹  sends a strong, powerful one. ²  With the force of a hailstorm or a destructive windstorm, ³  with the might of a driving, torrential rainstorm, ⁴  he will knock that crown ⁵  to the ground with his hand. ⁶
