Moses recorded their departures ¹  according to their journeys, by the commandment ²  of the Lord; now these are their journeys according to their departures.

you know what happened throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John announced: ¹ 

Starting a quarrel ¹  is like letting out water; ²  stop it before strife breaks out! ³ 

So Philip started speaking, ¹  and beginning with this scripture ²  proclaimed the good news about Jesus to him.

So David lived in the fortress and called it the City of David. David built all around it, from the terrace inwards.

But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, ¹  “Lord, save me!”

But they persisted ¹  in saying, “He incites ²  the people by teaching throughout all Judea. It started in Galilee and ended up here!” ³ 

His hair ¹  began to grow back after it had been shaved off.

My wounds ¹  are infected and starting to smell, ²  because of my foolish sins. ³ 

“Have you understood all these things?” They replied, “Yes.”

But Peter began and explained it to them point by point, ¹  saying,

Now ¹  as Jesus ²  was starting out on his way, someone ran up to him, fell on his knees, and said, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ³ 

Now when they heard this, they began to drift away one at a time, starting with the older ones, ¹  until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.

For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house ¹  of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate ²  of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

He built up the city around it, from the terrace to the surrounding walls; ¹  Joab restored the rest of the city.

Like a bridegroom it emerges ¹  from its chamber; ²  like a strong man it enjoys ³  running its course. ⁴ 

The end of a matter ¹  is better than its beginning; likewise, patience ²  is better than pride. ³ 

(This ¹  was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection ²  started in the city, and for murder.) ³ 

and repentance ¹  for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed ²  in his name to all nations, ³  beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴ 

And all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed him, have spoken about and announced ¹  these days.
