He ¹  said, “When evening comes you say, ‘It will be fair weather, because the sky is red,’

and in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ ¹  You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, ²  but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times.

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

The sky ¹  was split apart ²  like a scroll being rolled up, ³  and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

and the stars in the sky ¹  fell to the earth like a fig tree dropping ²  its unripe figs ³  when shaken by a fierce ⁴  wind.

God placed the lights ¹  in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth,

For just like the lightning flashes ¹  and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. ² 

God called the expanse “sky.” ¹  There was evening, and there was morning, a second day.

and let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” It was so.

The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed, ¹  and the rain stopped falling from the sky.

Meanwhile the sky was covered with dark clouds, the wind blew, and there was a heavy rainstorm. Ahab rode toward ¹  Jezreel.

The ¹  sky ²  above your heads will be bronze and the earth beneath you iron.

it will remain stable, like the moon, ¹  his throne will endure like the skies.” ²  (Selah)

the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. ¹ 

And I will perform wonders in the sky ¹  above and miraculous signs ²  on the earth below, blood and fire and clouds of smoke.

will you, with him, spread out ¹  the clouds, solid as a mirror of molten metal?

Faithfulness grows from the ground, and deliverance looks down from the sky. ¹ 

I can clothe the sky in darkness; I can cover it with sackcloth.”

“At that time, ¹  I will willingly respond,” ²  declares the Lord. “I will respond to the sky, and the sky ³  will respond to the ground;

the way ¹  of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship in the sea, and the way of a man with a woman. ²
