For I did not hold back from ¹  announcing ²  to you the whole purpose ³  of God.

But we are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are among those who have faith and preserve their souls. ¹ 

And now, little children, remain ¹  in him, ²  so that when ³  he appears we may have confidence and not shrink away from him in shame when he comes back. ⁴ 

You know that I did not hold back from proclaiming ¹  to you anything that would be helpful, ²  and from teaching you publicly ³  and from house to house,

Stay away from every form of evil.

Everyone who sees you will turn away from you in disgust; they will say, ‘Nineveh has been devastated! Who will lament for her?’ There will be no one to comfort you!” ¹ 

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

For now ¹  you have become like these streams that are no help; ²  you see a terror, ³  and are afraid.

My child, do not despise discipline from the Lord, ¹  and do not loathe ²  his rebuke.

Be amazed at this, O heavens! ¹  Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,” says the Lord.

For this is God’s will: that you become holy, ¹  that you keep away from sexual immorality,

In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel’s territory. ¹  Hazael attacked their eastern border. ² 

Then I would yet have my comfort, ¹  then ²  I would rejoice, ³  in spite of pitiless pain, ⁴  for ⁵  I have not concealed the words ⁶  of the Holy One. ⁷ 

But ¹  they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives ²  so much that they were afraid to die.
