So ¹  he sent another slave to them again. This one they struck on the head and treated outrageously.

The king shows favor ¹  to a wise ²  servant, but his wrath falls ³  on one who acts shamefully.

So ¹  he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty-handed. ² 

A servant who acts wisely ¹  will rule over ²  an heir ³  who behaves shamefully, ⁴  and will share the inheritance along with the relatives. ⁵ 

The ¹  rest seized his slaves, insolently mistreated them, and killed them.

The righteous person hates anything false, ¹  but the wicked person acts in shameful disgrace. ² 

For their mother has committed adultery; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, “I will seek out ¹  my lovers; ²  they are the ones who give me my bread and my water, my wool, my flax, my olive oil, and my wine. ³ 

For he will be handed over ¹  to the Gentiles; he will be mocked, ²  mistreated, ³  and spat on. ⁴ 

But although we suffered earlier and were mistreated in Philippi, ¹  as you know, we had the courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God ²  in spite of much opposition.

The Lord abhors ¹  dishonest scales, ²  but an accurate weight ³  is his elight.

The Lord abhors ¹  differing weights, and dishonest scales are wicked. ² 

“Son of man, confront Jerusalem ¹  with her abominable practices

Are they ashamed because they have done such disgusting things? No, they are not at all ashamed! They do not even know how to blush! So they will die just like others have died. ¹  They will be brought to ruin when I punish them, says the Lord.

The Lord abhors ¹  those who are perverse in heart, ²  but those who are blameless in their ways ³  are his delight. ⁴ 

The Lord abhors ¹  the way of the wicked, but he loves those ²  who pursue ³  righteousness.

The Lord abhors ¹  the plans ²  of the wicked, ³  but pleasant words ⁴  are pure. ⁵ 

Look, you are nothing, and your accomplishments are nonexistent; the one who chooses to worship you is disgusting. ¹ 

The one who gathers crops ¹  in the summer is a wise ²  son, but the one who sleeps ³  during the harvest is a son who brings shame to himself. ⁴ 

A noble wife ¹  is the crown ²  of her husband, but the wife ³  who acts shamefully is like rottenness in his bones. ⁴ 

But I am not really the one being troubled!” ¹  says the Lord. “Rather they are bringing trouble on themselves to their own shame! ²
