Encourage younger men likewise to be self-controlled, ¹ 

But if you do not believe what Moses ¹  wrote, how will you believe my words?”

but those ¹  who did not take ²  the word of the Lord seriously left their servants and their cattle ³  in the field.

You said, ‘I will rule forever as permanent queen!’ ¹  You did not think about these things; ²  you did not consider how it would turn out. ³ 

So now, sons, ¹  listen to me, and pay attention to the words I speak. ² 

let them ¹  drink and forget ²  their poverty, and remember their misery no more.

Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. ¹ 

He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord really wants from you: ¹  He wants you to ²  promote ³  justice, to be faithful, ⁴  and to live obediently before ⁵  your God.

But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his household with severe diseases ¹  because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

If you afflict them ¹  in any way ²  and they cry to me, I will surely hear ³  their cry,

Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is established, it cannot be moved.

The people continued to offer sacrifices at the high places, but only to the Lord their God.

Would he contend ¹  with me with great power? No, he would only pay attention to me. ² 

They did not remember what he had done, ¹  how he delivered them from the enemy, ² 

so ¹  I myself will laugh ²  when disaster strikes you, ³  I will mock when what you dread ⁴  comes,

For ¹  I did not obey my teachers ²  and I did not heed ³  my instructors. ⁴ 

The one who deals wisely ¹  in a matter ²  will find success, ³  and blessed ⁴  is the one who trusts in the Lord. ⁵ 

Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, ¹  and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.”

While Peter was still thinking seriously about ¹  the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Look! Three men are looking for you.
