Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged severely. ¹ 

Then he released Barabbas for them. But after he had Jesus flogged, ¹  he handed him over ²  to be crucified. ³ 

Sons of senseless and nameless people, ¹  they were driven out of the land with whips. ²
