The Lord abhors ¹  differing weights, and dishonest scales are wicked. ² 

I do not condone the use of rigged scales, or a bag of deceptive weights. ¹ 

Any creature in the water that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.

These you may eat from among water creatures: anything with fins and scales you may eat,

but whatever does not have fins and scales you may not eat; it is ritually impure to you.

let him ¹  weigh me with honest ²  scales; then God will discover ³  my integrity.

Honest scales and balances ¹  are from the Lord; all the weights ²  in the bag are his handiwork.

“‘These you can eat from all creatures that are in the water: Any creatures in the water that have both fins and scales, ¹  whether in the seas or in the streams, ²  you may eat.

But any creatures that do not have both fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the streams, from all the swarming things of the water and from all the living creatures that are in the water, are detestable to you.

Who has measured out the waters ¹  in the hollow of his hand, or carefully ²  measured the sky, ³  or carefully weighed ⁴  the soil of the earth, or weighed the mountains in a balance, or the hills on scales? ⁵
