They come in as through a wide breach; amid the crash ¹  they come rolling in. ² 

Though these people make an uproar as loud as the roaring of powerful waves, ¹  when he shouts at ²  them, they will flee to a distant land, driven before the wind like dead weeds on the hills, or like dead thistles ³  before a strong gale.

Listen carefully ¹  to the thunder of his voice, to the rumbling ²  that proceeds from his mouth.

So they brought the boy ¹  to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He ²  fell on the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

One deep stream calls out to another ¹  at the sound of your waterfalls; ²  all your billows and waves overwhelm me. ³ 

The one who digs a pit ¹  will fall into it; the one who rolls a stone – it will come back on him.

If only you had obeyed my ¹  commandments, prosperity would have flowed to you like a river, ²  deliverance would have come to you like the waves of the sea. ³ 

The sky ¹  was split apart ²  like a scroll being rolled up, ³  and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

to whom I appointed the steppe for its home, the salt wastes as its dwelling place?

They are dividing up my clothes among themselves; they are rolling dice ¹  for my garments.

O my God, make them like dead thistles, ¹  like dead weeds blown away by ²  the wind!

Justice must flow like torrents of water, righteous actions ¹  like a stream that never dries up.

The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have taken away ¹  the disgrace ²  of Egypt from you.” So that place is called Gilgal ³  even to this day.

The king’s servants who attended him said, “Let a search be conducted in the king’s behalf for attractive young women. ¹ 

They swayed ¹  and staggered like a drunk, and all their skill proved ineffective. ² 

At the sound of the trumpet, it says, ‘Aha!’ And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.

Do not let those who are my enemies for no reason ¹  gloat ²  over me! Do not let those who hate me without cause carry out their wicked schemes! ³ 

to the one who rides through the sky from ancient times! ¹  Look! He thunders loudly. ² 

Your thunderous voice was heard in the wind; the lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook. ¹ 

But just watch! ¹  The wrath of the Lord will come like a storm! ²  Like a raging storm it will rage down ³  on the heads of those who are wicked.
