So with these things prepared like this, the priests enter continually into the outer tent ¹  as they perform their duties.

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.

So they yelled louder and, in accordance with their prescribed ritual, ¹  mutilated themselves with swords and spears until their bodies were covered with blood. ² 

(For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they perform a ritual washing, ¹  holding fast to the tradition of the elders.

They served only for matters of food and drink ¹  and various washings; they are external regulations ²  imposed until the new order came. ³ 

For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled consecrated them and provided ritual purity, ¹ 

“‘This is the law of the guilt offering. It is most holy.

“This is the law for all diseased infections, for scall, ¹ 

“‘This is the law of the peace offering sacrifice which he ¹  is to present to the Lord.

So do what ¹  we tell you: We have four men ²  who have taken ³  a vow; ⁴ 

So also we, when we were minors, ¹  were enslaved under the basic forces ²  of the world.

“‘This is the law of the grain offering. The sons of Aaron are to present it ¹  before the Lord in front of the altar,

The law is the same for the sin offering and the guilt offering; ¹  it belongs to the priest who makes atonement with it.

This is the law ¹  for the burnt offering, the grain offering, ²  the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering, ³  and the peace offering sacrifice,

“This is the law of the diseased person on the day of his purification, when ¹  he is brought to the priest. ² 

This is the law of the one in whom there is a diseased infection, ¹  who does not have sufficient means for his purification.” ² 

to teach when something is unclean and when it is clean. ¹  This is the law for dealing with infectious disease.” ² 

This is the law of the one with a discharge: the one who has a seminal emission ¹  and becomes unclean by it, ² 

“‘This is the law for cases of jealousy, ¹  when a wife, while under her husband’s authority, goes astray and defiles herself,

There must never be a sacred prostitute ¹  among the young women ²  of Israel nor a sacred male prostitute ³  among the young men ⁴  of Israel.
